#WCEH: Explore, Contribute, and Connect at WordCamp Canada 2024

As the summer heat peaks, the WordPress community in Canada is preparing for an unprecedented gathering in Ottawa, Ontario. WordCamp Canada 2024, set for July 11 to 13th, promises to unite WordPress enthusiasts from across the nation and beyond. The event will kick off with a Contributor Day, offering a hands-on opportunity to contribute directly to the WordPress project.

Venue and Vibrant Locale

The WordCamp Canada will unfold at the Infinity Convention Centre, strategically located near Ottawa’s MacDonald Cartier International Airport. Ottawa, Canada’s capital, is renowned for its stunning architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Attendees will find themselves amidst landmarks like Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, and the National Gallery of Canada, paired with a flourishing food and drink scene.

Inclusivity and Community Impact at WordCamp Canada 2024

WordCamp Canada will transcend traditional technical discussions about WordPress; it will examine its broader influence on diverse communities. The themes selected for this year will deeply resonate, focusing on, among other things:

– Accessibility in the Digital Space
– Empowering Indigenous Communities
– The Intersection of Open Source and the Indigenous Worldview
– Enhancements for Underrepresented Communities

These topics will aim to connect geographical and cultural divides, promoting a cohesive approach to the challenges we will face together.

Contributor D’eh Day at WordCamp Canada 2024

On July 11, 2024, just before the main event, WordCamp Canada kicks off with Contributor D’eh Day—a playful Canadian twist on ‘day’ that adds local flavour to this global gathering. This day is dedicated to empowering WordPress users to engage directly with the open-source project.

Contributing is about enhancing the software and connecting with the WordPress community, learning new skills, and enjoying the collective buzz of collaboration. Benefits include. Attendance at Contributor D’eh is included with your WordCamp Canada ticket, but a separate signup is required to facilitate planning and logistics.
